2010 Annual Meeting
2010 NMAM Annual Meeting: 21st Century Museums in the Wildest of the Wild West
The 2010 Annual Meeting will take place Nov 3-6, 2010 in Las Vegas, New Mexico at the historic Plaza Hotel.

Las Vegas, New Mexico - the wildest of the wild west towns - home to saloons and opera houses, gambling, shooting, late night social clubs, and every manner of merchant. Doc Holliday and Dave Rudabaugh hung their hats in Las Vegas for a time, along with plenty of other outlaws and con men. Of course there were lots of law abiding citizens,
religious and social organizations, and even the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. The clash of economies, cultures, and personalities collided right here in this frontier town, in a big way.
We’ve settled down some, but you can still feel the energy. Walk through any one of our seven historic districts and you’ll discover enchanting architecture and eclecticism, from real New Mexican Territorial adobes to Art Deco, and everything in between.Local artists draw from traditional and cutting edge media. Stop in the galleries and shops to see the breadth of artist expression. Fort Union, 28 miles north of town, offers a glimpse into the bustle of what was one of the biggest military installations west of the Mississippi 150 years ago, juxtaposed with the incredible, seemingly empty landscape. Save some time to enjoy the natural surroundings, so close at hand. The Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge is on the fall migratory flyway. If you’re feeling strong, hike Hermit’s Peak and see where the prairie and the mountains meet the sky.
